Devar are delighted to announce that we have partnered with King George V School to participate in their Year 10 Work Experience programme which they have been running over the past few years with huge success.

Providing students with the opportunity to experience the realities of employment is an essential part of the programme of study for their GCSE students.  This practical experience has proven to be instrumental in developing interpersonal skills and helping students make informed decisions regarding their future career paths.

In participating in this programme we welcomed student Rafael Nuñez Lai who had a specific interest in our field of work. Rafael’s desire to work with us was evident in his introduction email stating that he was “passionate about architecture and design”.

During Rafael’s placement we followed KGV’s request of trying to give him practical tasks and provide him with a true insight into the nature of the job.

We are delighted to say he comfortably dealt with tasks such as expense reports and sourcing of suppliers as well as impressing our design team with his AutoCad skills. The highlight of this was he successfully without any assistance from our team drafted a floor lay-out plan for a project we are currently working on in Dubai. You may see below the floor lay-out plan created by him.

Rafael showed great maturity, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic which contributed to him fitting in at our company easily.

We would like to wish Rafael the best of luck in his future and would happily welcome him back in to our company should he wish to pursue a career with us in this industry.
